Economic Opportunity Commission of San Luis Obispo County, founded in 1965, provides various community-based programs. It is a private, nonprofit, public benefit corporation, providing safety, emergency intervention and family development services. Its senior services include exercise and movement classes, cooking and gardening, storytelling, dancing, walks, current events discussions, reminiscing sessions, field trips, various games, and arts and crafts classes. In addition, the organization provides direct services parent education program to assist families in child abuse prevention. Its energy conservation services include home weatherization, home repair services, furnace repair and replacement, utility payment assistance, carbon monoxide testing and water heater replacement.
