Child Abuse Prevention Council

Established in 1978, the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) of San Joaquin County provides a variety of services for children and their families. The organization operates the First Step Children s Center, which is a crisis nursery, preschool and day care center. The center provides various services for children up to the age of 12. The Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) of San Joaquin County supports a court-appointed special advocates program that includes consistency and attention for every child in an overwhelmed dependency court system. In addition, the organization supports a parent education program that includes classes on topics related to child development and abuse and chemical dependency. It also administers a voluntary in-home visitation program for families. The organization maintains a location in Stockton, Calif.
