Cesar Chavez Soccer Field
Cesar Chavez Park, located at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and 37th Avenue in Oakland, CA, was originally named Foothill Meadows Park. After facing challenges with gang and drug activity in the 1980s and 90s, the park underwent a significant renovation in 2002 and was renamed in honor of the renowned labor leader who began his organizing career in East Oakland.
The park features a variety of amenities, including new play structures, a basketball court, space for a community garden, and a mini soccer practice court, all enhanced by decorative mosaics celebrating Cesar Chavez. In 2013, it was formally rededicated following further renovations funded by a state grant, transforming it into a vibrant community space.
