San Diego, CA 92101

History

The Centro was first formed in the Ford Building, known today as the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park. It was then moved to the building it occupies now at 2004 Park Boulevard. This came after an intense struggle with the City of San Diego to claim a space for Chicana/o arts and culture in San Diego. The Centro Cultural was dedicated in 1971 at the new building and is still there today.

Specialties

We are a cultural activity center and art space. We are dedicated to the preservation and support of the Chicana/o, Latino and Indigenous art and culture. Our Gallery is open everyday except Monday. Our normal gallery hours are 12-4pm, but we have special events and workshops all the time. So check our website for upcoming events.
