The Center for Community Health and Well-Being is a health and human services agency that was founded in 1988 as the Birthing Project, an all-volunteer, community service project to lower infant mortality in Sacramento, Calif. The center has grown to include a comprehensive women s health care clinic, risk reduction programs for youth and parenting education, employment referrals and social support for fathers. The center serves diverse communities and aims to actively engage community residents in identifying needs, planning, implementing and evaluating services and working collaboratively with other agencies, organizations and individuals to improve and maximize health status. It is funded by income earned through clinic services, foundation grants and the contributions of organizations, businesses and individuals. The Center for Community Health and Well-Being is located in Sacramento, Calif.
