The Cat's Hill Classic Bicycle Race in Los Gatos, CA is organized by the San Jose Bicycle Club and sponsored by Mike's Bikes. This annual race, held in the Almond Grove neighborhood, features a challenging mile-long course that includes a steep 23% grade climb up Nicholson Avenue and a thrilling 50 mph downhill stretch on Bachman Avenue. With races for various levels and ages, the Cat's Hill Classic has been a beloved event since its inception in 1974, attracting both professional racers and passionate amateur cyclists.
The Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club (LGBRC), a 501C3 charity, is the driving force behind the Cat's Hill Classic. Founded in 1960 by US Olympians Bob Tetzlaff and Jack Hartman, the LGBRC has a rich history of producing top-level cyclists, including Olympic and World Champions. Comprising approximately 100 members from Los Gatos and the surrounding Silicon Valley area, the club is made up of highly motivated amateur cyclists from various professions. In addition to organizing the Cat's Hill Classic, the LGBRC is dedicated to promoting sponsors, serving the local community, and fostering a passion for cycling among its members and the wider community.
