Carlos Becerra, M.D., serves as Medical Director of Cancer Research for Hoag Family Cancer Institute, and he practices as a board-certified medical oncologist focusing on gastrointestinal cancers and early phase clinical trial development and implementation. He brings years of experience and a compassionate approach when caring for his patients. Dr. Becerra works with fellow cancer experts to improve the lives of patients through strategic leadership in advancing the Institute’s clinical research program and increasing the number of cancer clinical trials available. As a cancer researcher, he is committed to being part of a team dedicated in leading cancer prevention, detection and treatment. Dr. Becerra has led teams and programs focused on cancer research and clinical trials. His accomplishments in the field have earned him respect from his colleagues and patients. He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research and Colombian Medical Association. Dr. Becerra has co-authored numerous publications featuring a variety of cancer types in relation to genetics and treatments. Dr. Becerra completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where he became an assistant professor of internal medicine after completing his fellowship. Dr. Becerra attended medical school and completed his internship at the Universidad del Valle (Colombia), followed by his residency in internal medicine at Saint Francis Hospital in Illinois, where he was named chief resident.

She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with subspecialty board certification in Gynecologic Oncology. She is an AAGL Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery (COERS) designee. Dr. Abaid received extensive training in robotic surgery during her fellowship and has an interest in minimally invasive approaches in the treatment of all gynecologic cancers, especially uterine cancer, some cervical cancers, and early ovarian cancer. She has vast experience in robotic-assisted hysterectomy, radical hysterectomy, pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy, and oophorectomy. In addition to performing robotic surgery for gynecologic cancers, she also treats patients with some benign conditions such as severe endometriosis and large uterine fibroids.Dr. Abaid completed her undergraduate degree at Auburn University. She attended medical school at the University of Miami and performed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Abaid’s fellowship sub-specialization in Gynecologic Oncology and Master’s of Public Health were also completed at the University of North Carolina.

Following the completion of her residency, Dr. OToole moved to Orange County and began her Obstetrics and Gynecology practice. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. OToole is a member of the North American Menopause Society.Born in Greenville, Mississippi, Dr. OToole had the opportunity to live in different areas all over the United States, as well as the Orient while she was growing up. Dr. OToole is now married and has a son and a daughter. She enjoys many activities and sports, including running, swimming, and skiing. She is an avid reader and loves to bake. She looks forward to living in the Orange County area, caring for her patients, for many years.
