Capoeira Petaluma

History

After an unbelievable journey by bicycle that took us from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Petaluma, California, Fabio and Mary settled in my hometown of Petaluma to pursue our dream: to open a Brazilian Cultural Center and teach Capoeira, the incredible art form that led us across the continent. With classes at the Petaluma School of Ballet (downtown) and the Inspired Fitness Training Center (east side), we are slowly building our group on a strong foundation of respect and community. We feel so honored to have the opportunity to share Capoeira with the Petaluma community, and we hope you will join us in class!

Martial arts * Music * Dance * History * Culture * Fitness * Acrobatics * An Afro-Brazilian martial art, Capoeira cultivates self-transformation: physical, mental, and spiritual. Combining funky dance moves and effective self-defense techniques, it builds flexibility, strength, and reflexes, as well as a heightened awareness of one's body and general surroundings. Practiced to the rhythm of ancient African instruments, Capoeira encourages self-expression and resourcefulness--it is an intense workout for the mind and body that can be adapted to any body or physical ability.
