The Yerba Buena Chapter of the California Native Plant Society is dedicated to increasing the understanding and preservation of the local native flora in San Francisco and northern San Mateo Counties. With over 540 native plants in San Francisco alone, including 48 threatened species, the chapter works tirelessly to ensure these vital resources for birds, butterflies, and bees are protected and free from invasive weeds.

Through their various programs, events, and volunteer opportunities, the Yerba Buena Chapter aims to bring marginalized plant species back to healthy populations and promote biodiversity in the region. Their efforts include monitoring endangered species and habitats, advocating for science-based public policies, removing invasive plants, and organizing educational programs and workshops. By joining the California Native Plant Society and selecting the Yerba Buena Chapter as their home chapter, members gain access to a range of benefits, including free subscriptions to publications, discounts at native plant sales, and participation in local programs and field trips.
