California Food & Agriculture

Founded in 1880, California Department of Food and Agriculture is organized into more than five divisions, including measurement standards, and plant health and pest prevention services. The department operates from more than 100 locations throughout the state and provides services to producers, merchants and public. Its Animal Health and Food Safety Services team provides several services, including protection of public health, livestock and poultry, safety of food at animal origin, and protect livestock owners against losses due to animal theft and straying. Its fairs and expositions division provides fiscal and policy oversight of the network of California fairs and funding services. It also provides inspection and marketing services, which include quality and labeling standards, and marketing programs and promotional boards. California Department of Food and Agriculture works in partnership with private industry, academia and public sector agencies, and is headquartered in Sacramento, Calif.
