Founded in 1976, the California Conservation Corps is a state agency that hires men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 to provide a year of work in natural resources and emergency response. The corps engages in public service and educational activities that involve the protection and enhancement of California s environment, human resources and communities. In addition, the division is dispatched to natural disaster areas, including floods, fires, earthquakes, agricultural pest infestations, search-and-rescue missions and oil spills. It performs recovery work, rehabilitation, cleanup and community assistance. The corps maintains locations in Auburn, Camarillo, Chico, Escondido, Fortuna, Fresno, Los Angeles, Napa, Norwalk, Pomona, Redding, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Maria, Stockton, Tahoe, Ukiah, Watsonville Yreka and San Luis Obispo, Calif.
