Calaveras Consolidated Fire
The Calaveras Consolidated Fire Protection District, known as Cal-Co Fire, was established on July 1, 2013, through a Joint Power Agreement between the Jenny Lind and Foothill Fire Protection Districts. Covering approximately 163 square miles in the western part of Calaveras County, it serves communities such as Valley Springs, Burson, and Milton, offering vital fire protection and emergency medical services to around 15,000 residents.
With a dedicated team of five full-time personnel and about 50 volunteers, Cal-Co Fire responds to roughly 1,300 fire and medical emergencies each year. The district protects various commercial operations, single-family homes, and high-traffic recreational lakes, while also managing an extensive wildland interface area.
