History
Originally founded under the name Sacramento Light Opera Association, California Musical Theatre has been producing Music Circus in downtown Sacramento since 1951. Initially presented under a canvas tent for over 50 seasons, CalMT opened the Wells Fargo Pavilion, a permanent in-the-round theater building, in 2003. In 1989, CalMT began presenting Broadway National Tours at the Sacramento Community Center Theater under Broadway Sacramento (formerly The Broadway Series). In 2008, CalMT opened The Cosmopolitan Cabaret, a 200-seat venue on K Street in downtown Sacramento.

California Musical Theatre produces Music Circus, Broadway Sacramento and The Cosmopolitan Cabaret. Established in 1951, CalMT is the largest non-profit performing arts organization in Northern California.
