Breaking Code Silence
Breaking Code Silence, established in 2008, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing institutional child abuse in residential facilities and empowering adult survivors through education and advocacy. Recently granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, the organization aims to strengthen its resources and reach by applying for government and foundation grants.
With a volunteer Board of Interim Directors comprised of individuals who have experienced institutional abuse themselves, Breaking Code Silence fosters a supportive community for survivors. Through outreach, research, and community organizing, the organization strives to protect the civil and human rights of youth in congregate care settings.
