Weed, CA 96094

The Black Butte Center for Railroad Culture (BBCRC) is dedicated to preserving and promoting railroad culture through the documentation of art, music, and stories related to the railroad community in North America. Located in Weed, CA, at a historic rail junction near the Union Pacific ex-Southern Pacific mainline, the center features a library, resource center, and a performance space housed in two historic boxcars.

Since its establishment in 2007, the BBCRC has focused on stewardship of the surrounding forest and wetland areas while hosting regular art, music, and rail-oriented events. The site includes eight historic railcars, such as the Utah Phillips flanger car and the Shasta business car, alongside a commitment to community engagement and cultural enrichment.
