Big J's BBQ started out competing in professional BBQ competitions. The head chef started catering a couple of events and realized he had more fun providing his passion to the masses. Big J's wants everyone to experience just what the excitement is all about in Texas, and Kansas City without having to leave our beautiful San Diego.
Specialties
Big J's BBQ specializes in slow smoked true mid west BBQ catering. Our Tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, turkey and BBQ brisket beans are all slow smoked to perfection. Our sauces are made from the same rubs that are used on the meat so it compliments the taste. We believe you don't change the taste of BBQ with a sauce, you can just add some love to it. all sides like the sweet and creamy coleslaw, down home potato salads are all homemade and fresh.

The pulled pork and tri tip are amazing! But don't forget to try the baked beans, they are off the hook!

This is by far the best BBQ I have ever had. I wish Big J would open a restaurant or be someplace consistently so I could have is food. We had him cater an event and it was so good.

I had the tri-tip plate at the Santee auto show today. Very large chunks of fat on the tri-tip with no sauce provided or offered. The beans however were outstanding. Best part of the meal.
