Based in California, Berkeley Aikikai is a part of Aikido UnEnKai. Operational for more than 50 years, the organization provides admission to students of every race, color, national and ethnic origin. Berkeley Aikikai has a direct association with Hombu Dojo (Aikikai Foundation), Tokyo, Japan. The Aikikai Foundation received an official recognition from the Japanese government in 1940. It serves as the parent organization for the development as well as expansion of Aikido throughout the world.
