History
BellyDance Land was initially created to introduce Cris! Basimah's as a Middle Eastern dancer and to announce her dance performances. Cris! started teaching her own classes in 2009. In 2010 she was appointed as the new Dance Artistic Director for the UCSB Middle East Ensemble, from which she had been a member since 1999. Then in 2013 she also became the belly dance instructor for UCSB. Cris! teaches weekly classes at UCSB and the State Street Ballet Academy in Santa Barbara.
Specialties
The BellyDance Land (BDL) provides group and private classes, as well as performance opportunities for students and professional level performers for private and corporate events. Mid 2022 BDL will also be offering online and on-demand classes via its new BDL Online Studio. Cris!'s passion is to bring joy, movement, higher self-esteem and self-expression to others through performance and teaching dance.
