The company is part of Avis Budget Group, formerly Cendant Corporation. Avis Budget Group has marketing agreements with Avis Europe, a separately owned UK-based company owning or franchising an additional 2,900 Avis locations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Founded in 1946, Avis Rent A Car System owns rental fleet of more than 425,000 vehicles and has completed over 28 million vehicle rental transactions worldwide in 2007. It also offers a variety of promotions and programs for individual and business customers. Headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., the company employs more than 14,000 people worldwide.
