On the Pacific Coast, near Santa Cruz and Monterey, the Aptos Beach Inn lies nestled between lush green heather and strawberry fields, near spectacular beaches. The Inn was built in 1867 as a replica of Abraham Lincoln's Springfield home by the Thurwachters, a German farming family. It was the first Neo-Georgian mansion to have been built in the Pajaro Valley and was photographed by Ansel Adams when he was in the area. Located just over the hill from the longest stretch of unbroken beach in Northern California, a short eight minute walk or a 1 minute drive will take you to a long, wild sandy beach.
