Founded in 1926, the Altadena Library District is an independent public institution that serves more than 55,200 people. The district offers computers with Internet access. It operates a nonprofit volunteer organization that supports through book donations and fundraising events, as well as sponsors author talks and educational lectures. The Altadena Library District also provides a library card that features access to over 110,000 books, CDs, videotapes and DVDs. The district features meeting room accommodations for community groups and organizations. In addition, it offers interlibrary loan programs. The district s library staff assists users in the use of print and electronic resources. The Altadena Library District provides access to magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias and online databases.
