In 1999, Dean Foods Company acquired Alta Dena Certified Dairy, providing additional resources to help Alta Dena sustain new product development and maintain its brand position. Since 2003, Alta Dena has introduced a new logo design, new upgraded retail packaging, single serve sizes of Alta Dena milks and orange juice, whole strawberry milk, Dipzz sour cream based dips, a line of all-natural low fat cup yogurts, in addition to low fat and whole chocolate milks. The company s milk comes from cows that are not treated with the growth hormone rBST. All Alta Dena milk comes from local family farmers under contract to Alta Dena. Its cows are fed a nutritious diet, including fresh green alfalfa hay, and its milk is tested nearly 30 times to make sure it contains nothing harmful. Alta Dena Certified Dairy is located in City of Industry, Calif., where it employs nearly 500 people.
