History

Almaden Lake Park is a 32-acre man-made lake and was progressively formed as a result of the quarry operation which began int he late 1940s. Excavation for the quarry started at the late center of Los Alamitos Creek and moved outward, transforming what was once a meadow where dairy cows grazed, into a lake. Almaden Lake Park was first opened for public use as a park in the spring of 1982.

Specialties

The Lake Almaden Trail follows the banks of Lake Almaden. The paved trail offers a pleasant walking route with continuous views of the lake, and linkage to many attractions within the park. Attractions include fishing, pedal-boating (seasonal), bocce ball, beach volleyball, and other recreation programs. The trail system links to Los Alamitos Creek Trail to the south and Guadalupe River Trail (southern reaches) to the north.

Love going to this park. The lake is beautiful. They upgraded the play structure: the architect knows what kids love. The track is perfect for my little one to ride bike and I get full view of him.
