Alakazam Comics

History

In 1999, Marco Davanzo had just acquired an MBA degree from U.C. Irvine and was looking for a business opportunity where he could work for himself. He bought the contents of a local comic book store - Planet X - that was shutting down and started his new store in the same location. In 2001, Marco bought the contents of another local comic book store that was shutting down - Halley's Comics - and moved the store three blocks away. Alakazam Costa Mesa was born. In 2005, Alakazam Comics started an Internet presence by selling through ebay. In 2008, due to the faltering economy, we closed Alakazam Costa Mesa and merged the inventory and customer base back into our Irvine Store. 2009 was our 10th anniversary year. We published at 10 year anniversary graphic novel. In 2016, we moved Alakazam Comics from the University Center to 17777 Main Street, Ste. E.

We specialize in comic books, graphic novels, toys, action figures, manga, adventure gaming, magic cards, yu-gi-oh cards, pokemon cards, and lots, lots more! On Wednesday nights we have Dungeons and Dragons. On Friday nights we play Friday Night Magic.
