ACC Senior Services Center

History

ACC was founded in the late 1960s by leaders of the Asian American community to improve the quality of life for their elders in need of convalescent care and a place to get together. At that time. many seniors were experiencing social and language isolation in nursing homes, and they struggled with a lack of familiar foods and an inability to communicate with care staff. It led ACC to explore opportunities to provide quality care for individuals in need of placement. We also began to develop critical social services ranging from nutrition programs to cultural arts classes for seniors who were alone all day. We continue to focus on the programs and service needs of a broad senior community. In addition, ACC has a special commitment to understand and address the needs of many Asian language groups in the region, including the development of specialized programs and resources. We take pride in our ability to welcome seniors of all backgrounds and ethnicities into the ACC family.

Our mission is to promote the general welfare and enhance the quality of life for our community by identifying, developing, and providing culturally sensitive health and social services for older adults.
