The Academy of Arms in North Hollywood, CA is a non-profit historical fencing school that offers a range of classes in the art of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). From medieval longsword to rapier, dagger, and more, students are taught in a supportive and community-oriented environment, approaching sword fencing as a martial art rather than a sport.
With a focus on contact work and the progression from plastic training weapons to blunt steel and limited work with sharps, the Academy of Arms welcomes adult men and women to join their classes. As a socially responsible organization, they require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for all students and actively support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in their efforts to fight hunger in the community.
