Founded in 1979, the Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of services for individuals who suffer from domestic violence. Located in Bakersfield, Calif., the organization offers various client services that include group and individual counseling, case management, child care and transportation options. It also provides advocacy services through parenting and support groups. The Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault offers assistance with employment and houme searches and with obtaining domestic violence-restraining orders. The organization also supports a 24-hour hot line, as well as hospital-accompanied and prevention and educational programs for youths. It provides shelters for battered women and their children.
