History
Prairie Market is a natural outgrowth of Mel Harness' love for the land and people of our region. Raised on a Boone County farm, Mel became fascinated as an adult with our area's native grassland prairie-- so much so that he and his family restored twenty acres of his childhood home back to its native state. Family conversations overlooking this beautiful prairie led to the next big dream: to provide a local market, cafe, and education center that would support and encourage farms, health and nutrition in our community. The Harness family's long-term passions for organic gardening, natural living, eating well, and nutrition have knit together with Prairie Market. Mel sees an intrinsic connection between these two great endeavors:

The salads we had were THE BEST we've ever eaten! Homemade dressings we're phenomenal!

The burger was cooked well but had no flavor. The fries were a little bland too. Service was ok but slow on the food coming out.
