Knights of Columbus

The American Legion Department of Arkansas is a post location for the American Legion, a nonprofit patriotic wartime veterans organization that was chartered in 1919. It is a community service organization that numbers nearly 3 million men and women in nearly 15,000 posts worldwide. These posts are organized into 55 departments that include one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. The organization is responsible for many programs and events within communities throughout the United States, such as Legion College, educational aids, endowment funds, national emergency funds, library, museum, children and youth programs and temporary financial assistance. The post in Arkansas features a number of programs that include AL baseball, Boys State, flag education, junior shooting sports, oratorical contests, scholarships and scouting. The American Legion Department of Arkansas is headquartered in Little Rock, Ark.

Founded in 1899, Veterans of Foreign Wars is an organization that provides complete services for the betterment of the veterans, military and communities. Based in North Little Rock, Ark., the organization serves a number of states in the United States. It provides national veterans service, transitioning, troop support, post military assistance and national military services, among others. Additionally, the organization renders compensation/benefits, health care, vocational rehab and employment as well as home loans amenities. Veterans of Foreign Wars provide several scholarships, flag education and other community serving programs.
