Washington County Detention Center, located in Fayetteville, Ark., is a division of the Washington County Sheriff s Office. The county is one of the largest in the state with more than 150,000 people. The office of the sheriff is a constitutional office, and its functions include serving the six circuit and chancery courts in the county as well as maintaining a county jail to house prisoners. The office is in charge of providing law enforcement services to the residents of the county. It has more than 270 employees, including support staff, and each department works in collaboration with the other for the purpose of law enforcement.
