The company was founded in 1938 after local residents of the Sulphur Springs Valley organized to bring electric service to rural area of southeast Arizona. In 1997, electric cooperatives across the United States developed the Touchstone Energy brands to identify characteristics that make cooperatives different. The service territory encompasses parts of Cochise, Graham, Pima and Santa Cruz counties and include the cities of Sierra Vista, Huachuca City, Patagonia, Elfrida, Benson, St. David, Bowie, San Simon, Willcox, Sonoita and Pearce-Sunsites. The company is headquartered in Willcox, Ariz.
