Sara Sherali Dhanani, MD

Inspired by experience as an individual with Tourette syndrome, I have dedicated my career to improving quality of life and treatment options for people with movement disorders. I utilize a team approach to care involving physical therapy, speech therapy, social work and other important services. Most importantly, I involve my patient and their caregiver in decisions about their care. In order to identify more effective and better tolerated therapies, I frequently involve my patients directly in clinical trials conducted at our Institute.

I approach every patient as an individual and strive to develop a relationship with the patient and family in order to achieve the most optimal level of care.

My approach to care is individualized and tailored to my patients needs and goals with further focus on maintaining clinical utility. I strive to meet patients where they are and utilize a person-first and person-centered approach in my conversations regarding, and conceptualization of, ones current functioning. Further, my method to provision of care is strengths-based and recovery-oriented and I ensure that my patients and their support system or loved ones leave with an understanding of their strengths and abilities and have an actionable plan moving forward with their treatment.
