History

Founded in early 2013, Pet Prodigy began as a sole proprietorship offering short-term overnight boarding services for dogs. For the first time in my life, I found myself without any pets of my own to care for. After spending the previous decade caring for a 'special needs' cat who required an insulin injection every 12 hours, I was overdue for a break. It didn't take long for me to miss having a pet around the house, but I wasn't yet ready to give up my newfound freedom and ability to travel whenever I felt like getting away. Shortly thereafter I was introduced to Dog Vacay, and I could not have imagined a more perfect solution. I get to play with lots of different dogs, travel when I want, and even get paid! These days most of Pet Prodigy's services are offered through Rover.com instead of Dog Vacay, but the same benefits and top-notch customer service remain.

Specialties

Pet Prodigy offers a variety of pet-care services including boarding, training, and daycare. I work my home in North Tempe during the week, so I am around all day to keep an eye on your best pal. I have a pet-door and fenced in yard so he/she can get some fresh air, and a nearby dog park for exercise and playtime with new friends. While I've had pets all my life, I don't have any right now - so your special children will get 100% of my attention. I have experience caring for pets with special needs, and am comfortable administering all medications (including injections). I've managed post-surgical restrictions, chronic disabilities, extreme anxiety, and more. My own cat required an insulin injection every 12 hours for 10 years! You can relax and enjoy a worry-free vacation knowing your pet's medical treatments and existing routine will continue uninterrupted while you're away. I have experience handling a variety of behavioral issues as well, ranging from basic obedience to more complex social problems. While I am definitely a proponent of positive reinforcement as an overall training philosophy, not every dog is driven by the same motivators. I believe the most effective training methods are designed around that specific motivator, uniquely tailored to a dog's environment, personality, and relationship with his human. Sometimes bad habits can even be resolved during your 'vacay'! Just fill out a quick form at petprodigy.com/training to learn how I can help.
