Located in north Phoenix, The Musical Instrument Museum is a fascinating destination for casual music listeners and fanatics alike. Featuring over 6,000 instruments from all over the world, interactive exhibits and regular performances from internationally renowned artists, there's something for everyone at the MIM.

Visitors that want full access to the museum should try attending during the summer months, preferably mid-May to early August. The museum is enjoyable any time of year, but large school groups can make interacting with the exhibits difficult.

Must see/do at the Musical Instrument Museum
Technology lovers will want to stop by the mechanical music gallery to see the evolution of player pianos, musical boxes and other "self-playing" instruments. Concert fans should swing through the artist gallery, an exhibit showcasing famous instruments, concert outfits and other items from music history. Finally, for future rock stars there's the experience gallery, a place where visitors can try their hand at a variety of different instruments.

Admission to the Musical Instrument Museum
Admission varies by age at the Musical Instrument Museum. Children ages 3 and under are free. Tickets for older children, teens and adults are between $10 and $20 dollars. Special exhibits and concerts vary in price but are in addition to general admission.

Parking and public transportation to the Musical Instrument Museum
Free parking is available on site. The Musical Instrument Museum is not accessible by light rail, but it can be reached using Valley Metro bus routes 44 and 186.

Food at the Musical Instrument Museum
Cafe Allegro is located inside the Musical Instrument Museum and serves lunch from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. daily. The menu features everything from salads to grilled sandwiches and offers organic and vegan options too. Coffees, sodas and other drinks are also available.
