History

In March 1970, the first Copenhagen Imports opened in Phoenix, Arizona, bringing a still-developing city its first furniture showroom dedicated solely to Danish Modern style. Founders Tony Christensen and Erik Hansen made the decision to move to Phoenix based on their passion for good design and their desire to have a positive impact upon the desert Southwest by bringing a new type of design to the valley. Along with Erik's brother Jorgen and Erik's son, Jens, new stores were opened in Tucson and Texas. Since 1970, Copenhagen has continued to grow and expand, with locations in Phoenix, Scottdale, Gilbert, and Tucson, Arizona and San Antonio and Austin, Texas. The newly built 31,000 sq. foot showroom in Gilbert opened in October 2021 and is Copenhagen's newest location, featuring high ceilings and a spacious, welcoming ambiance.
