The Phoenix Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee is a labor management committee that offers a comprehensive five-year apprenticeship program for individuals interested in becoming skilled sheet metal workers. With a focus on providing the highest quality training, apprentices receive college-accredited instruction in various areas such as AutoCAD, welding, HVAC fabrication, and installation. The program aims to equip apprentices with the necessary skills to excel in the diverse job opportunities available in the sheet metal industry, including the installation of architectural sheet metal, kitchen equipment, and heating and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial buildings.
Apprentices in the program benefit from excellent wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and optical insurance for themselves and their families. With two pension plans and a 401(k) plan, the total package is valued at over $40.00 per hour. The physical demands of the job include lifting, carrying, and working from great heights, while exposure to extreme temperatures and excessive noise and vibrations is also expected. The training program, which combines on-the-job experience with college-accredited instruction, provides apprentices with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the sheet metal industry.
