History

Founded in 2016, the Collective began when Miriam reached out to a handful of local artists like her out of frustration and overwhelm while trying to create a viable and professional brand for her artwork. The original Grotto Gallery venue was opened in downtown Tempe in 2017, Arizona on the Arizona State University campus, to serve the Arizona Artisans Collective membership as both a resource center and an event space. We produced many fine-art exhibits, receptions and pop-ups, free member meet-ups and art-repreneur workshops. We created, published and promoted countless in-depth artist interviews and blog features, along with e-commerce services and press releases. We hosted an Artist-in-Residence program. We worked hard! Currently, our Tempe location is closed as we've relocated to northern Arizona high country, but our mission is the same: to support, market and feature local Arizona artists.
