West Pool

Located in Anchorage, Alaska, West Anchorage High School is a public school providing education to more than 1,900 students in grades nine through 12. The school was established in 1953, and is affiliated with the Anchorage School District. It offers International Baccalaureate courses in a wide range of subjects, including English, Spanish, Russian, French and German, history of Europe and America, biology, chemistry and environmental systems. It also provides courses in math, music, and theater and visual arts. Additionally, it offers Kanakngaq, a native education program. The school s activities and sports include debate, drama and forensics, cross country skiing, hockey, softball and volleyball. It also has clubs, such as math club and the National Honor Society. The school offers various courses for freshers, sophomores, juniors and seniors under its School Through the Arts program. The courses provided under the program comprise creative writing, Shakespearean studies and humanities, pottery, dance, acting, orchestra and painting. Its library offers a large collection of print books, Internet access and online database.
