Streets & Fleet Maintenance

The Streets Division is responsible for maintaining and repairing sidewalk, streets, stairways, storm drainage facilities and traffic control devices in the City and Borough of Juneau in Alaska. It also maintains street appurtenances. The division is engaged in drainage, road surfacing, brushing and asphalt patching. The Streets Division is a part of the Public Works Department, which produces and delivers water for potable and fire suppression needs. The department also maintains and repairs drainage systems and retaining walls. It is responsible for the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater. The Public Works Department provides public bus transportation services. It operates capital transit, fleet maintenance, waste management and wastewater utility divisions.
