History

We began teaching Women's Self Defense classes and expanded to a full-blown school in the mid-80s. During the 90s we expanded to include teaching children as well as adults. In the 00s we down-sized and are only serving teens and adults. We did, however, add a monthly specialty self-defense focus to the community -- including Women's Self Defense.

Specialties

Kung Fu San Soo is a self-defense system not a sporting system. We teach practical self-defense. It is also an 'art,' in that we also learn 'form,' similar to tai-chi. The system was developed in a Buddhist monastery in southern China and retains the philosophy that 'we learn how to fight so that we don't have to fight.'
