The Gumbo House originated on January 5, 2006, in a pink house, on 9th and F st. With only a few items on the menu, two brothers, Gustavo and Roberto Del Real, decided to transform their Mexican restaurant into something more unique. Now, 16 years later, the pink house has become a staple of Downtown Anchorage, and the Gumbo House remains as the only Cajun restaurant in Alaska. We pride ourselves not just in our food, but the relationships we create with our customers. We are a family business, and our community is just that, family. On December 1st, 2022, we moved to a new location: 508 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, Alaska. Leaving the small pink house was difficult after nearly 20 years of creating memories. However, we are excited for the growth and development that will come with our new location. With open arms, we invite you to our new home and strive to extend our family.

This is a Galveston must do. The gumbo is a dark rue but tasty if you get the big bowl bring a friend I think it is way too much. They also have a full menu an it is crowded for breakfast. Enjoy

Chicken Gumbo Cup was nasty - very blend and muddy ..... The catfish was. Sandwiched, I thought it was pieces catfish ... the place was let down I don't see how it got 4 star ratings

Not sure what kind of food this is it certainly not Cajun. Maybe Chinese Cajun Combo, ordered the jambalaya. There was plenty of meat but it did not really taste Cajun. Will pass on this...
