Duff's Backcountry Outfitters

History

Duff's Backcountry Outfitters is a family run business that opened Spring 2003 (previously named KRO2). Owners Duff and Karla Ray moved to Skagway, Alaska in 1979 as a young broke married couple with a two year old daughter. In 1982 they opened the Kone Kompany, an ice cream, home-made fudge, and candy shop. They then opened a gift store, Kothes Rush Outfitters that carried apparel necessities like socks, shoes, and underwear. Noticing that there wasn't a place to get high quality outdoor clothing or gear they began carrying gear in a small section of their store in 1993. In 2003 the decision was made to open a store dedicated to outdoor apparel and gear called the KRO2. Six years later the growth and success of the store has allowed a new name, look, logo, and location on 5th avenue next to RadioShack. Duff's Backcountry Outfitters are proud providers of outdoor apparel and equipment for your Alaskan adventure.

We are Skagway's local year round, family owned and operated gear shop. We specialize in backcountry apparel, gear, footwear, and accessories. We also specialize in snowboarding and splitboarding gear and apparel in the winter and offer an awesome selection of skate apparel and gear in the summer. We proudly carry Carhartt workwear.
