The Chugiak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Inc. has been serving the Chugiak community since 1952, providing fire protection and EMS response to an area of approximately 47 square miles and a population of around 11,000. With five stations strategically located within the service area, the CVFRD responds to over 1,000 emergency calls per year, with nearly seventy percent of these calls being medical in nature.
Comprised of over 100 volunteer members from all walks of life, the CVFRD is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The service area includes a mix of suburban and rural areas, encompassing residential, commercial, and industrial occupancies, as well as schools, senior centers, and long-term care facilities. With its unique setting of lakes, streams, and outdoor recreational areas, the CVFRD is well-equipped to handle the diverse fire protection and EMS response needs of the Chugiak community.
