Central Mat-Su Fire Department
The Central Mat-Su Fire Department, also known as Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services District 1, is the second largest and second busiest fire department in Alaska. They provide fire protection services to the Central Mat-Su Fire Service Area through a combination system of full-time and paid-on-call responders.
Formed through the consolidation of the Wasilla Volunteer Fire Department and the Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, the department has over 125 members, including full-time paid-on-call and auxiliary volunteers. They respond to a variety of emergencies, including motor vehicle crashes and technical and off-road rescue incidents, totaling over 450 calls each year.
