Calypso Farm & Ecology Center

The Calypso Farm and Ecology Center is a nonprofit farm that encourages food production and environmental awareness through educational programs in natural and farming ecosystems in Alaska. The center serves students and community members. It offers the Schoolyard Garden Initiative program, which is a network of schoolyard gardens that function as outdoor learning environments for teachers and students. The Calypso Farm and Ecology Center also offers a variety of field trips to schools, homes and youth groups. The center provides workshops on ecological gardening topics, including soil fertility, natural dyeing and seed saving for gardeners. It offers the Community Shared Agriculture Program, which provides a farm newsletter with recipes and farm news. In addition, the center operates the Employing Alaskan Teens in Gardening program. The Calypso Farm and Ecology Center organizes dinner and auction events annually.
