Alaska Housing Finance Corporation

Created in 1974 by the Alaska Legislature, Cook Inlet Housing Authority insures elders, individuals and families in the 45,168-square-mile area of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) have access to quality, affordable housing. Based in Anchorage, Alaska, it provides assistance to the homeless, nearly-homeless and those in need of transitional housing through partnerships with Brother Francis Shelter, McKinnell House, The Ernie Turner Center and Homeward Bound, Dena A Coy, Cook Inlet Tribal Council, The Municipality of Anchorage and Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services. The firm owns and/or operates more than 700 rental units in Anchorage and 52 units located in Kenai, Ninilchick and Seldovia on the Kenai Peninsula.

The organization offers restoration services through the use of public and private partnerships, and involvement of the community. It provides a full array of housing resources, including financial fitness and homeownership counseling, home purchase and rehabilitation loans and grants, and specialized services aimed at seniors and people who experience disabilities. Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services also offers individualized prepurchase and post-purchase counseling classes to assure homeownership. Additionally, the company provides affordable rental housing for multifamily properties.
