Alaska Children s Services is a nonprofit, psychiatric residential treatment center for children and adolescents with moderate to severe emotional and behavioral disorders. It uses storytelling, crafts and cultural activities for emotional and spiritual growth of youth. It provides therapeutic foster homes for students leaving its residential treatment. Alaska Children s Services other services include after care case management, recruitment of therapeutic foster homes, intensive day treatment and activity therapy. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Its Partnership in Treatment program provides financial alternative when insurance is not available to children and families in need of treatment. Alaska Children s Services is located in Anchorage, Alaska, and has been operational since 1890.
