EducationAfter completing his undergraduate studies cum laude at Mississippi State University, Dr. Jon Holmes received his dental degree summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi. He then earned his Medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was the recipient of the Academic Achievement Award. Following a general surgery internship, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Holmes was subsequently named for the Dennis and Roberta R. Youde Fellow in Head and Neck Surgery at Legacy Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, where he received advanced training under internationally recognized surgeons, Eric J. Dierks, M.D., D.M.D. and Bryce E. Potter, M.D., D.M.D. Dr. Holmes returned to Birmingham where he served on faculty at UAB.
