Shelby County Highway Department

Shelby County Highway Department, located in Columbiana, Ala., provides land development and federal aid and infrastructure management services to its residents. It offers a wide range of services, such as construction planning, plot reviews, administration of subdivision regulations and inspection of construction works. The services provided by the department also include cleaning of drainage ditches, widening of roads, grading of dirt roads and maintenance of pavement, signs, striping and shoulders. The department undertakes various management programs for design and construction of road projects and revision and approval of utility permits. It also undertakes annual paving and resurfacing programs. It has a shop that maintains all highway department vehicles and construction equipment.
