Fairhope Single Tax Corp
The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation (FSTC) is a 501(c)(4) not-for-profit organization located in Fairhope, Alabama, and is one of only two single tax colonies remaining in the United States. Established in 1894 by a group from Des Moines, Iowa, the FSTC operates under the principles of economist Henry George, leasing land to residents while maintaining ownership of the land itself.
Today, the FSTC owns approximately 4,500 acres of land within and around Fairhope, with the majority situated in the downtown area. The organization continues to play a pivotal role in the governance and development of Fairhope, which was incorporated as a city in 1908. Generated from the website
